|
![]() If you're looking for a restaurant near Woodstock, VT, Hanover, NH or Quechee, VT then Madelyn's Dining Room is the perfect place for a quiet and intimate dinner in a historic and quintessential romantic Vermont inn in a charming town of Windsor, Vermont. Only 12 miles from Woodstock and 13 miles from Hanover, the short and beautiful drive takes you back in time when dining was an event and meant to be savored. Our new and exciting a la carte menu features the freshest regional and Vermont products and infuses them with international flavors. Chef Lyda Lemire believes that food should be "savored... uncomplicated yet with great depth." We have developed an international wine list that compliments our cuisine. With a plethora of fine dining destinations in our region including the Woodstock Inn, The Jackson House, The Prince and the Pauper, Mangowood, Home Hill Inn, Carpenter and Main, The Inn at Weathersfield, Simon Pearce Restaurant and the Parker House, the Juniper Hill Inn offers a wonderful alternative to the fine dining scene that already exists.
The Complete Hoot newspaper said "it was fantastic!" Chowhound bloggers say it's the best food in the Upper Connecticut River Valley! Juniper Hill Inn and Madelyn's Dining Room compliment the many wonderful chefs and restaurants in the region and offer people the opportunity to connect over an elegant menu with comfortable country service. Never stuffy, we offer heartfelt and conscientious service with a fantastic wine list and full bar. The inn also offers its private dining room filled with museum quality art for groups of ten or more. Some couples rent our dining room just for themselves so that they can celebrate a special occasion in private romantic dining at its best! Vermont and New Hampshire growers produce some of the finest produce and meats and catch some of the best fish, crabs and lobsters in the world. The inn chefs work hard to incorporate these products into nightly specials that complement the already extensive menu. Seasonally the inn's gardens produce fresh vegetables and herbs that further the dining experience because they are picked only moments before they are prepared for your plate. For the finest vegetarian cuisine in Vermont, Juniper Hill offers creative selections that include a Panko Crusted Smoked Poblano Pepper stuffed with spinach and local smoked cheddar, ricotta and blue cheese or you may have the Pumpkin Stuffed Ravioli with Walnut Sage Butter Sauce. Steak house lovers will go crazy over our filet mignon or our specially cut 20 ounce steak-lovers steak with either a Vermont blue cheese sauce or our own Blackberry Demi Glace.
Guests are invited to arrive before their reservation and relax in the beautifully paneled Great Hall with its massive fireplace or you may choose to have a cocktail on our 3,000 square foot terrace surrounded by old growth forests, dramatic gardens and spectacular views. After dinner, the library offers a quiet respite for a night cap, fine coffee and pleasant conversation. From the moment you ascend the inn's 1/8 mile long drive you realize you have entered a special place. The largest Colonial revival mansion in New England, it was built in the Gilded Age of America by one of the most prominent men in United States, Maxwell Evarts, the Juniper Hill has hosted Presidents Teddy Roosevelt, Coolidge, Wilson and Eisenhower as well as the great artists of the Cornish Colony: Maxfield Parrish, Augustus Saint Gaudens, Winston Churchhill, Isadora Duncan and so many others. Come be a part of the history of this special place, meet its congenial hosts, experience its heartfelt service and be sure not to miss the nightly tour that shares the history of this grand dame of Vermont craftsmanship and historic hospitality.
